422 South and VPRO are working together on a series which looks at the complexities of modern life in Holland by visualising the country from above. The series aims to unravel the daily patterns and rhythms of life by using a combination of gps data animation and stunning aerial photography. Each episode will explore topics such as mobility, leisure time and farming to visualise the movements and connections of daily life in Holland.

Raw data is converted into stunning animation by 422 South by using a mixture of complex data processing and compositing skills. 422 South have developed the unique ability to extract useful information from data and interweave that into a story. It’s with months of data research by VPRO that we’re able to assemble large amounts of data from a range of sources, and turn them into something which can be understood by an audience. VPRO has also developed a range of interactive maps with Stamen Design (also responsible for Mapumental) from the US called ‘Your Netherland from Above’. Data has been used to create a range of interactive maps which allow the user to cross fertilise various data sets and create your own maps. In the UK we call this kind of things a 360 multiplatform production.
